Abstract:In order to build a unified teaching pattern integrating knowledge delivery, skill cultivation and value guidance, this article, based on the targets of cultivating medical talents in the new era, aims to explore the pathway of curriculum ideological and political education in Medical Parasitology teaching based on the situation of Yunnan Province. By analyzing the epidemiology of parasitic diseases in Yunnan Province, the remarkable achievements of parasitic diseases control in China and Yunnan Province, cases with parasitic disease misdiagnosis, parasitologists ' selfless contributions, the contributions of traditional Chinese medicines to parasitic diseases control and the contributions of traditional Chinese medicines in Yunnan Province, the ideological and political education is naturally integrated into Medical Parasitology teaching, to create an educational model combining professional course teaching with ideological and political education curriculum.

Abstract:This paper investigates the course setting of parasitology in 64 colleges and universities in mainland China,and evaluates the possible impact of the curriculum on the development of medical students. It points out the problems that less teaching hours in the curriculum setting and inadequate attention to parasitology course may be a hindrance factor in the national development of The Belt and Road,and cannot meet the challenges of new imported parasitic diseases. It provides first-hand evidence for improving the construction of human parasitology course and the reform of medical education model.

Abstract:Following the concerted efforts for nearly 70 years, great achievements have been obtained in parasitic diseases control in China, and some important parasitic diseases have been eliminated or moving towards elimination in the country. With the socioeconomic development, the implementation of the "Road and Belt Initiative" and the increase in the international communication and overseas investment, there is a rise in the number of overseas labors, businessmen, students, travelers, visitors and participants in national and international communication activities, resulting in a gradual increase in the number of cases with parasitic diseases imported from endemic to non-endemic areas of China and from foreign countries to China. The increase in the number of imported cases causes new challenges for the elimination of parasitic diseases in China. The paper describes the current status of malaria, schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis, analyzes the challenges for the current control activities, and proposes the control strategies and interventions.

Abstract:China has approximately one-fifth of the world's population. Despite the recent success in controlling major parasitic diseases, parasitic diseases remain a significant human health problem in China. Hence, the discipline of human parasitology is considered as a core subject for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the medical sciences. We consider the teaching of human parasitology to be fundamental to the training of medical students, to the continued research on parasitic diseases, and to the prevention and control of human parasitic diseases. Here, we have summarized the distribution of educational institutions in China, particularly those that teach parasitology. In addition, we have described some existing parasitology courses in detail as well as the teaching methods used for different types of medical students. Finally, we have discussed the current problems in and reforms to human parasitology education. Our study indicates that 304 regular higher education institutions in China offer medical or related education. More than 70 universities have an independent department of parasitology that offers approximately 10 different parasitology courses. In addition, six universities in China have established excellence-building courses in human parasitology.

Abstract:Water-related parasitic diseases are directly dependent on water bodies for their spread or as a habitat for indispensable intermediate or final hosts. Along with socioeconomic development and improvement of sanitation, overall prevalence is declining in the China. However, the heterogeneity in economic development and the inequity of access to public services result in considerable burden due to parasitic diseases in certain areas and populations across the country. In this review, we demonstrated three aspects of ten major water-related parasitic diseases, i.e., the biology and pathogenicity, epidemiology and recent advances in research in China. General measures for diseases control and special control strategies are summarized.

Abstract:Over the past six decades, the Chinese government made parasitoses with a high disease burden, including soil-transmitted nematode infections, malaria, leishmaniasis, filariasis, and schistosomiasis, a public health priority because they were seen to be crucial impediments to the development of rural areas. As a result, these debilitating parasitic diseases that used to be widely prevalent have been well controlled or eliminated. Consequently, less attention has been paid to parasitic infection during the rapid development of the economy, especially in developed areas. However, our investigations conducted in the parasitological laboratory of Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou, Guangdong, China) show that emerging parasitic diseases still threaten many people’s health, with 340 of 880 outpatients (38.6%) receiving a diagnosis of parasitic disease, among whom 201 (59.1%) had clonorchiasis and 120 (35.3%) had taeniasis/cysticercosis. Furthermore, our doctors are not equipped with sufficient parasitology knowledge because this discipline is not able to maintain attraction. Many parasitic infections that result in severe consequences are treatable and preventable, but the phenomena of misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis are common and merit attention.

Abstract:In the first part of the paper, the main achievements and experience of disease control and prevention in China during last 50 years are described. Infectious diseases and parasitosis have been successfully controlled and prevented and people’s health enhanced owing to the establishment of an effective system of public health, the launch of a campaign called “Patriotic Public Health”, immunization planning, and the improvement of economic and environmental conditions. In the second part, the challenges to public health in China are presented. The threat from old and emerging infectious diseases, especially sexually transmitted diseases, a sustained increase in the prevalence of chronic non-infectious diseases (cardiovascular diseases tumors and diseases of the respiratory system), environmental problems and the health problems of aging are discussed. Finally, strategies for disease control and prevention in the new century is suggested.

Abstract:To improve teaching level of infectious disease, the examination paper of infectious disease from eight-year program medical students in Peking University People' s Hospital was retrospectively analyzed.The result showed that the students had well-knit professional basic knowledge, good clinical thinking ability, but some students ignored infectious disease learning. Therefore, students should be educated to be interested in infectious disease, at the same time new-emerged infections disease and bilingual teaching should be strengthened.
The importance of zoonotic parasitoses in China

Abstract:Zoonotic parasitic diseases are widely prevalent in China and worldwide. The impact of the diseases to the social and economic development has been enormous; however parasitic diseases have remained as a group of "neglected diseases" in the national disease control program. So far more than one hundred parasites have been identified with capability of transmission from animals to human. The most prevalent zoonotic parasitoses are transmitted through consumption of parasite-contaminated food and water. Incidence of parasitic diseases transmitted by insects and other blood-feeding animals such as ticks is increasing due to more travelling and forest working. Diseases such as schistosomiasis caused by Schistosoma japonicum has not been effectively controlled in China with an estimated number of patients of more than 8 millions. Clonorchiasis and paragonimiasis are prevalent in several provincial regions such as Jilin and Heilongjiang with the yearly incidence increased more than 65%. Zoonotic protozoan parasites such as Toxoplasma gondii and Cryptospodium species are also widely distributed in the living environments,which have posed major threat to the infants and individuals who are with immune-compromised situations. Effective control of the zoonotic parasitoses relies on the comprehensive coordination at both national and regional levels. Accurate and prompt diagnosis,effective medication and active prevention procedures are all crucial to control these diseases. However,the importance of basic knowledge on parasite biology can never be over emphasized and is the basis for development of anti-parasitic products such as novel medicines and vaccines. Investment in basic research in parasitology is very necessary in China.

Abstract:China's prevention and control of parasitic diseases has made remarkable achievements. However, the prevalence and transmission of parasitic diseases is impacted by the complicated natural and social factors of environment, natural disasters, population movements, and so on. Therefore, there are still the risks of the outbreak of emergency parasitic diseases affairs, which may affect the control effectiveness of parasitic diseases and endanger the social stability seriously. In this article, we aim at the analysis of typical cases of emergency parasitic disease affairs and their impacts on public health security in China in recently years, and we also elaborate the disposal characteristics of emergency parasitic disease affairs, and propose the establishment of response system to emergency parasitic disease affairs in China, including the organizational structure and response flow path, and in addition, point out that, in the future, we should strengthen the system construction and measures of the response system to emergency parasitic disease affairs, so as to control the risk and harm of parasitic disease spread as much as possible and to realize the early intervention and proper disposal of emergency parasitic disease affairs.

Abstract:This article focuses on the following sections : training of varied levels of medical professionals and joint creative and advanced levels of physician sciemists ; step-by-step building of the Chinese medical professional training system in order to provide efficient health care providers; build and strengthen the family medicine and primary care education system, expand the community health care service and form a stable medical care system which focuses on individuals; and strengthen and reorganize the educational systems for training better quality and suitable countryside and rural area health care providers. Abstract:Justified the necessity of remote pathology consultation in China, and described the basic approach of such consultation in terms of the conditions, organizational framework, specialists and consultation process of the hospital. on the basis of benefit in pationts, the consultation helps the development of the pathology department and other specialist departments at the same time, builds initially a pathology quality control system, and accelerates the multi-discipline diagnosis and treatment approach. Expect to encourage contemplation on international remote pathology consultation in an effort to improve such a practice for the benefit of patients.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the teaching of parasitology between Fudan University and some Japanese medical colleges.The curriculum arrangement and reforms on teaching methods,especially the knowledge extension of human parasitology in physician qualification examination are mainly contrasted and discussed.The results reflect the efficiency of the teaching methods reform in our university while the weakness in our teaching practice and the limitations on the coverage of parasitology in physician qualification examination are also discovered.The information may be used for reference on the teaching practice and methods reform accordingly.

Abstract:China has made significant achievements in social-economic development in the last three decades, and the numbers of livestock and companion animals are rapidly increasing. Some advances have been made in the control and prevention of animal parasitic diseases, but there are still some significant challenges, particularly in relation to foodborne parasitic zoonoses and vector-borne diseases. In addition, new molecular (e.g., genomic and transcriptomic) technologies have been developed and are gradually being introduced into the veterinary parasitology field. Therefore, teaching of veterinary parasitology in Chinese universities has undergone significant changes over the years, in terms of topics, depth and breadth, and also in the ways in which courses are delivered. In this article, we describe the current status of veterinary parasitology teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Chinese universities, summarise changes and improvement in veterinary parasitology teaching, and discuss the challenges and opportunities for veterinary parasitology teaching in the 21st century, including the use of new teaching technologies and the integration of the "One Health" concept into veterinary parasitology courses.

Abstract:The rapid development of China's medical education makes great contribution to the building of physician workforce in the country. Chinese physicians play a vital role in effectively treating COVID-19 , pandemic prevention and control. Nevertheless, medical education in China are also faced with a number of challenges, including inadequate number of students, weakness in public health and preventive medicine education, neglect of medical microbiology and infectious diseases, insufficient online study resources. To address these issues, the scale of education still needs to be expanded in order to train more healthcare providers. Meanwhile, public health and preventive medicine education should be strengthened and medical students should be equipped with more knowledge on zoonotic infectious diseases. More investments should be poured into experimental teaching in medical microbiology and the development of virtual simulation experiment teaching. Furthermore, more efforts should be made to construction of strengthen online curriculum resources with the integration and combination of online and offline teaching. The evaluation system for the cultivation of medical professionals should also be reformed in order to promote the capacity building of of clinical and teaching skills.
