Current studies on serum markers of periprosthetic joint infection

Abstract:With development of social economy and improvement of people's living standard,arthroplasty has been widely performed throughout China.Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is one of the most severe complications after arthroplasty.Early diagnosis of PJI is the cornerstone for treatment of this catastrophic consequence.Up to now,however,there are still no independent and reliable serum markers of PJI.The article overviews several serum markers proposed in recent years for diagnosis of PJI.Appropriate application of these markers would play an active role in the early diagnosis and treatment to improve prognosis of PJI.
