Abstract:Pathogenic diagnosis is very important for antimicrobial therapy of bacterial infections.It is relatively easier to have clinical diagnosis,but difficult to make the etiologic diagnosis for bacterial infections,so empirical therapy is often adopted in the treatment of bacterial infections.This article briefly introduces the definitions of clinical and etiological diagnosis,as well as empirical and pathogen-specific treatment,so as to help clinicians to have a better understanding of antimicrobial therapy of bacterial infections.
