Application of Cosmetics Containing Hyaluronic Acid and Resveratrol for Repairing after Ablative Fractional Laser

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the cicabio cream, which rich in hyaluronic acid and resveratrol ,in repairing skin after ablative fractional laser. Methods A randomized controlled, placebo parallel controlled, four- center clinical trial was conducted. 100 female subjects treated with Er/ CO2 fractional laser were recruited. Skin physiological parameters were tested before laser treatment and 0.5 hour, 3 days, 7 days, 28 days after the treatment, which includes melanin and erythema indexes, transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Digital photos were taken on each visit. The degree of erythema, edema and time for decrustation were documented. The skin tolerance and adverse effect were also collected. Results Compared with control cream, the cicabio cream improved erythema better after 7 days and 28 days (P<0.05). The melanin index improved better 7 days and 28 days after applying cicabio cream (P<0.05). The degree of edema was lower in cicabio cream group 3 days and 7days compared with control cream (P<0.05). The subjective assessments of uncomfortable feeling such as itching, pain, burning and dry were milder in cicabio cream group. The cicabio cream group had less adverse events such as skin irritation (P<0.05). Conclusion the cicabio cream could effectively alleviate inflammation such as edema and erythema and reduce post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after fractional laser. There were less adverse events in cicabio cream group.
