Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of repairing the perforating defects in maxillofacial region with temporal fascia flap and free skin graft. Methods Combined the temporal fascia flaps with superficial temporal vessel pedicles and skin graft were used to repair 13 patients with maxillofacial perforating defects. Results All the defects were satisfactorily repaired and all cases were followed up about 6～24 months. 2 cases suffered from necrosis of skin graft partially and 1 case had a little fistula at the flap border. All of them had been cured with dressing change or local operation again. Conclusion The temporal fascia flap is a reliable and safe flap for its plenty of blood supply as well as no deformity in donor site. It is a wonderful auto-tissue material for reconstruction of the perforating defects in maxillofacial region.
