Effects of psychological support on psychological resilience and emotion regulation in patients with esophageal cancer

Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of psychological support on psychological resilience and emotion regulation in patients with esophageal cancer.Methods Select 112 patients with esophageal cancer who were treated at The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University were selected from May 2013 to April 2016.According to the random number table method,they were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group,with 56 patients in each group.Patients in the observation group received psychological support therapy on the basis of routine nursing,and patients in control group only received routine nursing.The psychological resilience,emotion regulation and quality of life were observed and compared between the two groups by using the connor-davidson resilience scale,the emotion regulation questionnaire and quality of life questionnaire.Results Tenacity,optimism and strength scores were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05).The overall score of psychological resilience in the observation group was (81.9 ±2.7),obviously higher than (53.9 ± 3.1) of the control group(P < 0.05).Cognitive assessment and expression of inhibition were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05).The overall score of emotion regulation was (62.7 ± 2.4) in the observation group,which was obviously higher than (43.8 ± 2.3) of the control group (P < 0.05).Quality of life intervention was significantly better in the observation group than in the control group after nursing.The physical function,role function,emotional function,cognitive function and social function were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05).The general health state was (90.1 ± 4.0) for the observation group which was obviously higher than (82.5 ± 0.7) of the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion Psychological support therapy can significantly improve the psychological resilience and emotional regulation ability in patients with esophageal cancer.
