Incidence and Mortality of Lung cancer in Hunan Cancer Registration Areas, 2013

Abstract:[Purpose] To analyze the incidence and mortality of lung cancer in Hunan cancer registration areas.[Methods] The incidence/mortality of lung cancer in Hunan cancer registration areas were stratified by areas,gender,age groups,the cumulative incidence/mortality rates (0～74 years old) were also calculated.The Chinese population census in 2000 and Segi's world population were used for calculating the age-standardized cancer incidence/mortality rates.[Results] The total new lung cancer cases and lung cancer deaths were 3359 and 2479 in 2013,respectively.The morphology verified cases (MV％) for lung cancer was 56.77％ and 0.24％ of incident cases were identified through death certifications only (DCO％),with a mortality to incidence ratio of 0.74.The lung cancer incidence in Hunan province was 50.16/105,the age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population (ASIRC) and by world standard population (ASIRW) were 34.36/105 and 34.31/105,respectively with the cumulative incidence rate (0～74 years old) of 4.17％.The lung cancer incidence in urban areas was 53.73/105,the ASIRC was 37.12/105;and those in rural areas were 49.03/105 and 33.65/105,respectively.The lung cancer incidence in males was 72.08.16/105,the ASIRC was 50.50/105;and those for females were 26.79/105 and 18.04/105,respectively.Lung cancer was the most common incident cancer both in males and in females.The lung cancer mortality in Hunan cancer registries in 2013 was 37.02/105,the age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 24.61/105 and 24.72/105,respectively,and the cumulative mortality rate(0～74 years old) was 2.96％.The lung cancer mortality in urban areas was 47.23/105,the ASMRC was 31.84/105;and those in rural areas were 33.77/105 and 22.57/105,respectively.The lung cancer mortality in males was 53.85/105,the ASMRC was 37.01/105;and those for females were 19.07/105 and 12.20/105,respectively.Lung cancer was the most common cause of cancer death both in males and in females.[Conclusion]Lung cancer is the most common cancer,which is seriously threatening people's health.h should be the priority of the cancer prevention and control strategy in Hunan province.
