Abstract:Objective To investigate the association between diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance among the patients with cerebral white matter changes.Methods The clinical and imaging data of 477 patients with cerebral white matter changes in Neurology Department of the First People’s Hospital of Hangzhou were retrospectively analyzed between 2008 and 20l2.The associations between WMC and diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance were analyzed.The fasting plasma glucose level were tested when all the patients were hospitalized.The patients who were not diagnosed as diabetes with fasting plasma glucose level(6.1-6.9)mmol/L were examined by oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT).Results The incidence of WMC increased with plasma level of glucose.Conclusion WMC is associated with DM and OGTT.83.0% of patients with WMC are concomitant with diabetes mellitus or impaired glucose tolerance.
