A retrospective analysis of 96 cases of Behcet's disease

Abstract:Objective:To summarize and analyze the clinical features of Behcet's disease in Gansu Province.Methods:The clinical manifestations and laboratory tests were retrospectively analyzed in 96 hospitalized patients with Behcet's disease.The incidences of systemic involvement in different genders and age groups were analyzed.Results:The male to female ratio was 1∶1.1;The mean age was(39.60±13.03) years,and the average duration of disease was(4.38±5.45) years.The incidences of clinical manifestations arranged in descending order were oral ulcers(94.8％),genital ulcers(59.4％),erythema nodosum (55.2％),ocular involvement (55.2％),joint involvement (38.5％),folliculitis (35.4％),positive pathergy test (22.9％),vascular involvement(10.4％),the respiratory system(10.4％),nervous system(8.3％),digestive system(7.3％),cardiac involvement in 6.3％.Erythema nodosum was more common in the females than in the males regardless of the ages (P＜0.05).Ocular and vascular involvements were more frequent in the males than in the females(P＜0.05).Incidences of folliculitis in the young and middle-aged groups were higher than that in the elderly (P＜0.05),with a higher incidence in the males than in the females in young group (P＜0.05).Laboratory findings included elevation in peripheral blood leukocytes(17％),neutrophila(38.3％),elevated ESR(27.1％),elevated CRP level(42.7％),proteinuria(35.1％),elevated UGLU level(8.51％),elevated IgA level(22.5％),elevated IgM level(10.0％),and elevated anti-ANA antibody level(9.1％) with no changes in anti-ds-DNA antibody.Conclusions:Behcet's disease can involve multiple organs and systems,and exhibits diverse clinical manifestations.The clinical manifestations vary with gender,age,and geographical location.
