Operation effect and the influence on the level of inflammatory factors between low temperature plasma knife and traditional tonsillectomy

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of low-temperature plasma knife tonsillectomy and traditional tonsillectomy and its influence on the level of inflammatory factors.Methods The clinical data of 80 cases who underwent tonsillectomy from February 2017 to August 2017 were analyzed. According to the different methods of operation, they were divided into two groups:observation group (low temperature plasma knife dissection group, n=40) and control group (traditional tonsillectomy, n=40). The clinical indexes, complications and serum levels of interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF-α) and hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) before and after operation were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time, bleeding volume, hospitalization time, recovery time, postoperative VAS score and mean pain time of the patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group. The time of pseudomembranous shedding time in the observation group of patients were longer than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(4/40,10% vs 14/40,35%;x2=7. 168,P=0.007);The levels of IL-6, TNF-α and hs-CRP in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with the traditional tonsillectomy, low-temperature plasma knife in tonsillectomy could obviously reduce the operation time and blood loss during operation, relieve the pain and inflammatory reaction after operation,which would enhance recovery after surgery.
