Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of acupoint-injection therapy combined with orally taken flunarizine in the treatment of vestibular migraine (VM) based on a prospective clinical trial. Methods Included in this trial were 45 patients diagnosed as VM, randomly divided into therapeutic group (TG) and control group (CG), with 23 and 22 cases in the two groups respectively. Patients in TG were treated by acupoint-injection therapy into Yifeng point with dexamethasone plus anisodamine, once a week and lasted for 3 months, combined with orally taken flunarizine, while those in CG treated only by orally taken flunarizine, also lasted for 3 months. All these patients in both groups were followed up for 3 months when the therapeutic course ended. Then, assessed was the therapeutic effect in a comparative way between them. Results All these cases in both groups were seen with their symptoms reduced significantly following the treatment (P<0.05). However, the therapeutic effect was much more obvious in TG than that in CG (P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with the routine therapy by flunarizine, acupoint-injection therapy into Yifeng point, with dexamethasone plus anisodamine combined in this therapy, can obtain much better therapeutic effect on vestibular migraine, even if orally taken flunarizine has been used in a combined way.
