Development History of Glaucoma Preferred Practice Pattern (PPP) Guidelines and Its Significance of Chinese Interpretation

Abstract:The Preferred Practice Pattern (PPP) is a series of clinical work guidelines for different eye diseases introduced by American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).The three guidelines,Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma,Primary Open-Augle Glaucoma Suspect and Primary Angle Closure are newly released in 2015,which provide authoritative and detailed guidance for clinical diagnosis and treatment of primary glaucoma.How to accept and apply these guidelines flexibly is of great importance in improving the overall level of diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma in China.At present,related experts are actively preparing a Chinese interpretation of the PPP guidelines,hoping to better assist the ophthahnologists in understanding the guidelines and assisting in clinical work.This article briefly introduced the development history of glaucoma PPP guidelines and its significance of Chinese interpretation.
