Research of the relationship between upper and lower airway inflammatory diseases

Abstract:In recent years,the idea that an inflammatory disease is associated with the upper and lower airway is gradually acceptedand a large number of epidemiological data and reports also confirm that the co-existence of which is often high,but the exact relevance of the inflammatory diseases in the upper and lower airway is still not completely clear.Studies showed that incidences of upper airway inflammatory disease as a representative of allergic rhinitis (allergic rhinitis,AR) or chronic rhinosinusitis (chronic rhinosinusitis,CRS) and the lower airway inflammatory disease as a representative of bronchial asthma (bronchial asthma,BA) were gradually rising.In clinical practice,many of the patients with AR or CRS were found to be accompanied by BA,while BA patients were often accompanied by AR or CRS,and the symptoms tended to be more severe.Numerous studies and literatures indicate that the upper and lower airway inflammatory diseases tend to coexist with the same patient,and the former is often the latter important independent risk factor.In this paper,around the epidemiology,mechanism and treatment of three aspects,the correlation of upper and lower airway inflammatory diseases and the possible mechanism were reviewed,for the upper and lower airway inflammatory diseases related theory basis was provided for comprehensive treatment and prevention.
