Abstract:The movement of molecules in living tissue includes not only the movement of water molecules, but also capillary perfusion. Considering the two kinds of motion components of diffusion and perfusion, the intravoxel incoherent mo-tion (IVIM) describes the motion more accurately. Tumor angiogenesis is one of the characteristics of malignant tumors, IVIM perfusion parameters can reflect tissue perfusion, can help the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors. The changes of diffusion and perfusion before and after treatment can help predict the efficacy. Research on normal tissue perfu-sion, has a certain reference to observe biological functions. This paper will introduce the basic principle of IVIM, and to re-view the application of IVIM in head and neck in recent years.
