An empirical study on medical selection of flying cadets with head and neck abnormalities between PLAAF and USAF

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the Chinese army medical selection of head and neck physical examination, through an empirical study with reference to the Chinese and American Standards, and provide a revised proposal for the head and neck cadet medical selection criteria.Methods We analyzed the flying cadets medical selection of head and neck department examination standard and compared standards between Chinese and American army. The data about Chinese army from 2012 to 2015 cadet selected head and neck examination were collected. Physical examination conclusion was unqualified and comprehensive assessment of qualified personnel back into the American Standard for statistical analysis. Results 12 people Chinese army medical selection of head and neck physical examination in 2012—2015 were unqualified. 6 people conformed to the American standard, 6 people were eliminated, and 3 people needed further examination. 6 people were qualified with the comprehensive assessment, 5 people met the American criteria, 1 person needed further examination.Conclusion Chinese army head and neck examination recruitment standards lay particular stress on morphological examination, pay attention to functional examination. Applying US army cadet standard to Chinese army existing standards revision can help to expand the proportion of students.
