Abstract:Rapid review is a rapid decision tool for evaluating the effectiveness, safety and economy of drugs to provide evidences for decision-makers by streamlining the method and process of health technology assessment/systematic review. Because its rapid characteristics, this method is increasingly taken seriously and used for decision making (such as new drug selection). This study was to introduce relationship and difference among rapid review, systematic review and health technology assessment, and then introduce the method and process of rapid review:① the speciifc clinical question and purpose for determination;②protocol development;③ citations searching and selection;④ data extraction and method quality assessment;⑤ evidence combination and analysis;⑥ evidence quality and conclusion;⑦ drafting report;⑧ conclusions promotion and re-assessment. Finally, taking saxagliptin as an example, we conducted a rapid review on effectiveness, safety and economy of saxagliptin for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
