Evaluation of the effect of the Chinese herbal decoction pieces in the intervention on the high risk population with the community chronic kidney disease

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the effect of the strengthened intervention of Chinese herbal decoction pieces on the high risk population with the chronic kidney disease (CKD) based on the treatment of the primary disease.Methods: According to the baseline survey of the high risk population with the community CKD in Zhabei District, 197 high risk cases with CKD were selected and divided into an intervention group with 92 cases and a control group with 105 ones randomly. The intervention group received the intervention of Chinese herbal decoction pieces and the control group with the routine prevention and treatment for the primary disease, both of whom were intervened for 6 months. The compliance rate of the intervention group and the effective control rate of urinary albumin and the change and improvement of CKD risk factors ( blood pressure, and fasting blood glucose) in both groups were observed. Results: In the intervention group, the compliance rate of accepting the Chinese herbal decoction pieces was 76.63%, the overall effective rate of urinary albumin 84.78% and lower than in the control group, and there was a signiifcant difference between two groups (t=2.0503,P<0.05). The repeated measures ANOVA showed that the urinary albumin between the intervention and control groups was (t=16.613,P<0.05), which indicated that with the intervention time, the cumulative effect in the intervention group was more obvious. In the CKD risk factors, after 6 months intervention, the systolic blood pressure dropped to 128.62± 7.18 mmHg, and the diastolic blood pressure to 78.31±5.01 mmHg, and the fasting plasma glucose to 6.01±1.53 mmol/L in the intervention group, while the three indexes in the control group rose compared with the previous.Conclusion: Based on the control of the primary disease, it has the social signiifcance in strengthening the intervention of Chinese herbal decoction pieces to control CKD high risk population to develop into the CKD patients and delay the progression of the disease process and can undertake the important role of reducing the economic burdens of the patients and their families and the social disease.
