Abstract:Objective:To explore the correlation between life events stimulating quantity and degree of relapse in alcohol dependent patients.Methods:599 alcohol dependent patients were recruited in the study. They received treatment and were followed-up after discharge.According to the scores of The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test, they were divided into four groups which were low-risk drinking group,high-risk drinking group, harmful drinking group and alcohol dependence group. The demographic date and the data of life events stimulating of the four groups were analyzed. Results:There were 18 patients in low-risk drinking group,92 patients in high-risk drinking group,103 patients in harmful drinking group and 386 patients in alcohol dependence group. The results suggested the scores of positive life events, negative life events, positive family-life events, negative family-life events and negative work-related life events have statistical significant difference (P < 0.05).Multiple unconditioned Logistic regression analysis showed, negative events, especially events related to family life, were risk factors.Positive events, especially events related to family life, were protective factors (P <0.01).Conclusion:Relapse and degree of re-drinking of alcohol dependent patients,is closely related to life events. The degree of re-drinking will be increased with the addition of negative life events stimulating, especially events related to family life.On the contrary, the risk will be reduceed by the positive life events.Improving the quality of family relationships and the structure of families, training patients to cope with negative life events can reduce the risk of alcohol relapse and degree of redrinking.
