Abstract:Objective To explore the brain mechanism that the outcome prediction affects the outcome evaluation by using the technique of the event-related potentials (ERPs).Methods Monetary Incentive Delay Task (MID task) was adopted to measure the N350 induced by the situational cue and the feedback, the feedback-related negativity (FRN) and the late positive component (LPC) in healthy subjects. Results In the condition of cues, the N2 amplitudes induced by the cues of rewards and punishment respectively were the same and smaller than zero, and their LPC amplitudes were the same and greater than zero.In the condition of feedback, the FRN amplitude of the negative feedback was greater than that of the positive feedback, while the LPC amplitude of the negative feedback was smaller than that of the positive feedback. Conclusion Healthy individuals are equally sensitive to the cues of rewards and punishment in the condition of cues, but they tend to make positive prediction for unknown outcomes in the condition of feedback.
