Preliminary Observation on Biological Characteristics of Gallbladder Carcinoma Subcutaneous Tumor Model in Nude Mice

Abstract:Objective:To establish a novel subcutaneous tumor model in nude mice by using hu-man gallbladder carcinoma cell line GBC-SD and observe its biological characteristics.Methods:GBC-SD cell line was cultured and the cultured cells were harvested to make cell suspension.Each of30mice was injected0.2ml GBC-SD cell suspension(2×10 6 cells)subcutaneously into femoral outside.Then tumor forma-tion rate,tumor appearing time,growing characteristics and its effects on general condition of the nude mice were observed,and anatomical and pathological examination was performed as well.Results:The overall tumor formation rate was100%,and the average tumor appearing time was1week after tumor cell suspension injection.Cachexia occurred in about the8th week,and the average life-span of the mice was about 20weeks.Con clusion:The human gallbladder carcinoma subcutaneous tumor model was suc-cessfully established and can now be used in the researches concerning gallbladder carcinoma treatment.
