Analysis of Complications after Cardiopulmonary Bypass of 40 Neonates

Abstract:Objective To reporte the experience of cardiopulmonary bypass of 40 neonates, and the relationship between the incidences of complications and the cardiopulmonary bypass costed time.Methods Forty patients were divided into two groups in this study. In Group L,10 patients received a long duration of cardiopulmonary bypass(120 minutes).Thirty patients who received cardiopulmonary bypass less than 120 minutes were enrolled into the control group(Group C).The incidences of complications were compared between two groups,the experience of cardiopulmonary bypass management (flow rate,perfusion pressure,infusion balance,etc.).Results There were 4 cases died in Group L.Eight cases had low cardiac output;2 cases had renal failure; 2 cases had DIC. 3 cases had positive blood culture.In group C,there were 5 cases died,and 11 cases had low cardiac output.Conclusion Our experience concluded that it is important to terminate the systemic inflammatory response syndrome early and well-organized cardiopulmonary management are two key elements to avoid complications.
