Abstract:Objective To analyze the bleeding state after chemotherapy in patients with hematologic malignancies, then to investigate the relationship between hemorrhage and low platelet count. Methods The bleeding state and severity of thrombocytopenia after chemotherapy were evaluated in 128 patients with hematologic malignancies, while the thrombocytopenia was investigated between the patients with and without hemorrhage complication. Results Forty seven cases were found to be hemorrhagic(36.7%)in 128 patients after chemotherapy with hematologic malignancies, associated with reduced bleeding in low age(P0.05),there was no significant variance in patients with different sexes or diagnosis. On the first day of bleeding, platelet counts ≤10×10~9/L were found to be 14.9%,11~20×10~9/L accounting for 27.7%,and 20×10~9/L accounting for 57.4% of all hemorrhagic events. From the second week after chemotherapy, the lowest platelet counts in patients with hemorrhagic complication were significantly decreased than the ones without hemorrhagic complication(P0.01)during week 2 and 3,P0.05 on the week 4),and there was no apparent difference between the two groups before chemotherapy or the first week after chemotherapy. The distripution of platelet counts in patients with minor bleeding was similar to the distribution of platelet counts in patients with moderate and severity bleeding. Conclusion Bleeding is a common complication after chemotherapy in patients with hematologic malignancies, which is profoundly associated with age and thrombocytopenia. But the rate of bleeding from profound thrombocytopenia is not large, and the severity of bleeding is not associated with the distribution of thrombocytopenia.
