Abstract:Objeetive To evaluate the diagnostic potential of capsule endoscopies(CE) for gastrointestinal disorders.Methods The 38 patients of clinical data and outcomes of CE from June 2003 to September 2004 were reviewed.Results CE disclosed definite bleeding sites in 14 of 16 patients of obscure GI bleeding(87.5%),the vascular abnormalities were the most common cause of obscure GI bleeding;2 patients were testified Crohn disease involoving small intestine;11 patients of abdominal pain or abdominal unwell,gastritis 8,duodenitis 2,duodenal ulcer 1 were diagnosed by CE;6 health check volunteers,gastritis 5,small intestinal folliculoplasia 1 were diagnosed by CE;2 emaciate patients were diagnosed as small intestinal folliculoplasia by CE.1 patient of post-traums GI bleeding was not disclosed bleeding cause by CE.Any complication never experienced and the quality of photos were clear.Conclusion CE is a safe,no-invasive method,and has a higher diagnostic yield to obscure bleeding and small bowel diseases.
