Abstract:Objective: To study the effect of corticosteroid inhalation and acupoint sticking on immune function in asthmatic children. WTHZMethods: Thirty children with asthma were randomly divided into two even groups: pulmicort group received pulmicort inhaler, and combination group accepted pulmicort inhaler and acupoint sticking. The peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) and serum IL-4, IL-8 and IL-12 levels were determined before and 1, 3 months after treatment. Results: There was an obvious improvement of PEFR in 2 groups after treatment (P0.05 or 0.01), especially in 3 months. The symptom disappearance was quicker, and ventolin dose was less in combination group compared with pulmicort grounp (P0.01). Serum IL-4, IL-8 and IL-12 levels returned to normal 3 months after treatment in 2 groups. Conclusion: Both of treatment schedules can affect serum cytokine contents in asthmatic children. Combined therapy can achieve rapid alleviation of clinical symptoms.
