Early Observation of Alendronate for the Treatment of Osteoporosis around Hip Joint Prosthesis in Elderly Patients

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of alendronate in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosisaround hip joint prosthesis in elderly patients,and to prolong the life of the prosthesis.Methods 47 cases of elderly patients with complete data of hip replacement in our hospital between September 2011 and October 2014 were collected and followed up for changes of bone mineral density after treatment of osteoporosis with alendronate for 1 year(42 cases of femoral neck fracture,5 cases of femoral head necrosis,38 females,9 males,age range of 60-89 years old,average age of 78.3 years old).Results After taking alendronate sodium for 1 year,the bone mineral density of 47 cases of elderly patients with hip replacement surgery wasall significantly improved.Conclusion Alendronate has a significant effect on the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in elderly hip joint prosthesis.
