Framework and Evolution on the Conception of Medicalization

Abstract:The growth of medicalization is one of the most potent social transformations of the last half of 20th century in the West .During the 1960s~1970s ,the conception of medicalization was strongly associated with medical dominance , involving the extension of medicine’s jurisdiction over erstwhile‘normal’ life events and experiences .During the 1980s~1990s ,a lot of studies on the medicalization of life domains have been published .These research have focused on the specific instances of medicalization ,examining the origins ,range ,and impacts of medicalization on society ,medicine , patients ,and culture .In recent years ,great changes have taken place in the medical organization and practices ,some scholars have also put forward to transcend or replace this conception .
