Abstract:Objective: To build the Rare Disease Database which based on the Journal of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Medical Science), in order to provide the reference of diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases for clinical workers, and then improve the effect of clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods: The Rare Disease Database was built through structure of rare disease formulation, kinds of rare diseases selection and data of rare disease collection. Then the web of Rare Disease Database was developed on informatization operation to show the results. Results: The Rare Disease Database contained 112 kind of rare disease of China, which had completed 87 kind of rare disease with complete information. 48.44% of the rare disease was occurred in childhood. The Rare Disease Database contained 461 academic reports, 145 clinical research trails and 166 experts for rare disease. The web site of Rare Disease Database include seven sections to show the results of Rare Disease Database. With domestic and international authoritative rare disease database in comparison, the main advantage of the rare disease database was providing the cutting-edge scientific research for clinical workers and the expert information for patients with rare diseases. Conclusions: The construction of Rare Disease Database could provide the practical application of research results for clinical workers, which embody the core connotation of translation medicine, and provide the reference for the domestic rare disease policy, academic research and database construction.
