Abstract:Objective:The study accomplishes the application of computerized Acute STEMI pathway in structural elec- tronic patient record,and further evaluates the result of this medical cure,which provides an effective way in assisting the doctor in therapeutic decision,standardizing behavior of treatment,improving the quality of medical treatment and controlling medical cost reasonably.Methods:The newest and authorized clinical guideline of diagnosis and treatment of STEMI is chosen to formulate therapeutic decision-making policy and compile evidence of clinical pathways.The clinical pathway,through program designs,finds it way into the medicine database system,and contributes to the seamless link between this system and structural electronic patient record.Twenty Acute STEMI patients with no severity syndrome were equally divided into two groups,of which the observation group was treated with computerized clinical pathway.Comparison was conducted between the observation group and the compari- son group in average length of hospitalization stays,average hospital cost,Patients and families' satisfaction with hospital experience and doctors' evaluation on the computerized clinical pathway.Results:The average length of hospitalization stays and average cost of patients in observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (p＜0.000).Patients and families were generally satisfied with their hospital experience (p＜0.05).All physicians complied with the clinical guidelines.Conclusions:The application of a computer-based clinical pathway for management of patients with STEMI can decrease total length of hospitaliza- tion,reduce patients' sum cost in hospital,enhance satisfaction degree of patients and their family numbers,while maintaining or improving the quality of care given to patients.Results also indicate that using computerized clinical pathways significantly increases staff utilization of the clinical guideline in routine patient care.
