Abstract:The degradation pathway of ubiquitin protein is an important signal pathway regulating mechanisms of plants response development and adaptation to environmental stress. The E3 ubiquitin ligase gene is a key factor in the ubiquitin protein degradation pathway that determines the specificity of protein degradation.Using the genome and microarray data of tomato, the study identified 56 U-box genes in the tomato genome.Characteristics such as the size, isoelectric point, and structural domain of members in U-box gene family of tomato were very different, and there was no significant aggregation feature. In contrast, the structure of tomato U-box genes showed similar great differences, but could be roughly divided into three categories according to system evolution: no intron,3~5 introns,10 or more introns. The chromosomal distribution of tomato U-box gene was also very uneven. On the number one chromosome, five U-box genes were sequentially distributed together, and the 5 genes had very similar sequences.Phylogenetic tree analysis showed that these genes were closely related to each other.Using the functional genomics database of tomato,we found that members of tomato U-box gene were involved in response to drought stress, pathogen infection and other external stress.Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal infection would also result in a significant upregulation of expression of tomato U-box gene Solyc01g007000.2.1 in roots. The research team have planned to further study the role of the U-box gene Solyc01g007000.2.1 in the interaction of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi with tomatoes.
