Vegetable Price Fluctuation in Beijing and Analysis of Its Influence Factors

Abstract:Vegetable is an agricultural product,closely related to people's daily life.In recent years, violate fluctuation of vegetable prices have aroused people's close attention.This paper analyzes the changes in vegetable price over the years,and compares the prices between vegetable and grain,between varieties of different vegetables,and between vegetables from different regions.On the basis of vegetable prices decomposition, the paper carries out empirical analysis on factors influencing vegetable price fluctuation in Beijing.The results indicate that vegetable price in Beijing has obvious seasonal fluctuation characteristics by high in winter and low in summer.By removing seasonal factors,vegetable price fluctuation becomes gentle and presents a upside trend for a long period of time.The cyclic fluctuation is obvious.It can be divided into 2 periods with 4 years and 6 years length,respectively.The growth rate of industrial added value,fresh vegetable price index,disposable income per capita and seasonal factors from January to April have significant positive impact on vegetable price,while seasonal factors from June to November have negative impact on vegetable price.
