Abstract:We studied the effects of different photoperiod (8/16h, 10/14h, 12/12h, natural light for control) on floral bud differentiation and flowering with Tagetes eresta 'Mount Tai Orange'.The beginning of floral bud differentiation of 8/16h was 5d after treatments, which advanced by 2d, 2d and 5d than that of 10/14h, 12/12h and CK.The ending of floral bud differentiation of 8/16h was found 21d after treatments, which advanced by 5d, 7d and 16d than that of 10/14h, 12/12h and CK, respectively.All short-day treatments could significantly expedite flowering and extend flowering duration, and 8/16h treatment had the most effect on flowering.Flowering amount increased significantly under the continuous short-day conditions, but tongue florets and flower diameter decreased significantly.Height, basal diameter, plant width and dry weight were declined with the shortening of lights to some extents.The photoperiod treatment could effectively adjust the floral bud differentiation and flowering of T.eresta 'Mount Tai Orange'.
