Abstract:In order to discuss the effect of pinecone serotiny on seedlings emergence and growth, we choosed P.yunnanensis with tipical canopy seed bank as our study objects. Using seeds from the cones persistented of 0a, 2a, 3a for seedling experiment. We compared the seedlings emergence, the growth indicators, the fresh and dry weight of overground and underground among seedlings with different grow time(100d, 300d) which seeds in dif-ferent serotiny time of P.yunnanensis. The results showed that the field seedling emergence of unstored seeds ware significantly greater than stored seeds (P<0.05).The field seedling emergence between stored seeds had no sig-nificant difference. The physical indicators of seedlings showed a downward trend with the stored years increase of seeds when the seedlings grow to 100d. And the height, the dry weight of overground, the main root length, the fresh of underground of stored seeds all had no significant difference. When the seedlings grow to 300d, the physi-cal indicators of seedlings showed a downward trend with the stored years increase of seeds except the dry weight of underground. And the physical indicators of seedlings had no significant difference between stored seeds except the height and the dry weight of underground. The result indicated that the field seedling emergence and the growth conditions of seedlings which grow to 100d and 300d of un-stored seeds were better than stored seeds. The growth conditions of seedlings which grow to 100d and 300d of stored seeds had no significant difference. So the weakly serotinous of P.yunnanensis is benefits to the seed regeneration when they runs some adverse interference, such as forest fire etc. But if we want to collect seeds to grow seedlings, in order to ensure a higher field seedling emer-gence we should collect the un-stored seeds.
