Abstract:Canine distemper (CD)caused by canine distemper virus(CDV)is an acute and highly contagious disease.According to the sequence and phylogenetic analysis of CDV H gene, the outbreak in wildlife might be associated with H protein amino acid exchange. The H protein mainly affects CDV antigenicity, the host range and tissue tropism, and results in an inter-species transmission and host range expansion to primates. Two kinds of CDV cell receptors have been found:Signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM)and nectin-4(PVRL-4/nectin-4)that was found to show as CDV receptor in 201 1.The wide range of SLAM and PVRL-4 receptors in mammals is a theoretical basis for the interpretation of CDV suscepti-bility to a variety of carnivorous animals. In this paper, the function of H CDV protein and its high muta-tion rate were summarized, and the H protein variation and two receptor interactions with CDV were de-scribed.
