Abstract:Bovine and ovine embryos which were exposed to a variety of unusual environments before the blastocyst stage had resulted in the development of unusual large offspring,as well as a number of organ defects.This was always called Large offspring syndrome.In recent years,lots of abnormal large calves and lambs had been born in the world.This was the project of embryo transplant or clone which needed various manipulation of the embryo in vitro.The incidence of large offspring syndrone subsequent to one project Daried from none to almost 100%.This had greatly limited the large-scale use of new breeding methods in stockbreeding, such as IVP, nuclear transplant.This article was intend to review the foreign reseachs and reports on the cause,clinical phenotype,timing of the perturbation and the underlying machanism of the Large offspring syndrome in recent years.
