Abstract:Seventy-five Kunming mice were divided into five groups at random and fed by the self-madediets. The mice were administered with zinc and/or vitamin A as follows: Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅴ was treated without zinc and vitamin A , Group Ⅱ was treated with zinc in drinking water(38.5μmol/mL), Group Ⅲ was treated with 400IU vitamin A per mouse intragastricly, and Group Ⅳ was treated with zinc and vitamin A. The model of cryptosporidial infection in young mice except Group Ⅴ was established after intragstric inoculation Crrytosporidium parvumwith 2.56×10~(6)/mL. The results showed that significantly fewer oocysts were shed in the feces of mice treated with zinc and /or vitamin A than that of group Ⅰ((P0.05)), the resistant time of oocysts sheding were also dramatically decreased compared with group Ⅰ((P0.05)), and the percentage of CD4 andCD8 cells and the ratio of CD4 to CD8 in the blood of the mice in group Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ were higher than those of group Ⅰ(P0.01). It was concluded that zinc and/or vitamin A could increase the cellular immunity and resistance to infection of Cryptosporidium in mice.
