Abstract:25 microsatellite makers were used to analyze the genetic diversity of wild silkworm and domesticated silkworm strains. All microsatellites were polymorphic, showing 0-3 alleles per locus (mean 2). The result of UPGMA analysis demonstrated the relationship of geographical distribution of B. mori and B. mandarina. Among all of these wild silkworm strains, the Shaanxi strain is closer to the domesticated silkworm. This result may reflect the evolutionary connection between the wild silkworm and domesticated silkworm.
