Genomics and Applied Biology
Abstract:Parasites such as Schistosom a japonicum, which have important epidemiologic significance, are subclassically classified as Digenea of Trematoda. At present, the research on the morphology, life history, prevention and control of adult and larvae of Digenea has been carried out deeply. Molecular biology has also been applied in the field of human parasitology but the systematic research of the genetic characteristics of the group at the perspective of genomics is still rare. Since the release of the first human mitochondrial genome, the mitochondrial genome has gradually become a hotspot in the fields of genetics and animal evolutionary biology by virtue of its maternal inheritance, lack of recombination and fast evolution rate. For the moment, GenBank has released mitochondrial genomic data of 36 species of Digenea. On the basis of summarizing the research progress of each group, this review made a comparative analysis of the base preference, gene composition and arrangement, codon utilization, tRNA secondary structure and noncoding region of the existing mitochondrial genome. Based on the current research progress, it can be found that the correlation between gene arrangement and phylogeny is scarce, and the whole genome data of mitochondria are seriously deficient. Data accumulation and depth excavation are still the important basic work at present.
