Abstract:The safety ofLactobacillus paracasei L9 was evaluated. In our invitro study, the antibiotic resistance and the ability to produce biogenic amine were determined. That this strain did not possess transferable antibiotics resistance, and it did not produce biogenic amine. The oral toxicity of this strain was evaluated in Balb/C mice. Oral administration of the strain had no adverse effects on mouse body weight and that there was no treatment-associated bacterial translocation. In trapertoneal administration caused a signiifcant translocation to liver, spleen and kidney. However, this translocation did not cause illness or death throughout the experiment. The results showed that L.paracaseiL9 is likely to be safe for human consumption.
