Abstract:The young A.japonicus were reared under different constant temperatures in order to analyze the effects of temperatures on the growth and to understand its physiological mechanisms. The young A.japonicus were sampled from the Qiandao Aquaculture Corporation,Wendeng City and were acclimated to 15℃ for 15d before the experiment. The initial body wet weight of the experimental sea cucumber were(4.540±0.378)g.Organisms were fed with feed that contained 22.875% crude protein and 2.067% crude lipid.Growth experiment was conducted at an indoor laboratory in Ocean University of China from March 2004 to May 2004.Sea cucumbers were reared in 45cm×25cm×35cm tanks under four different water temperatures (10℃,15℃,20℃ and 25℃).Five repetitions were made for each temperature treatment with 5 individuals in each repetition. The oxygen consumption rate was determined under 10℃,15℃,20℃ and 25℃.In each treatment, there was one blank control, which was used to minus the respiration of microorganisms in the water sample, and five replicates.Oxygen contents of water samples were determined by Winkle method.Crude protein contents were estimated by Nitrogen content, which were measured by Vario EL Ⅲ Elementar.Crude lipid was estimated by Soxhlet method, and ash was determined by combustion at 550℃ for 12h.Energy content was determined by bomb calorimetry (Parr adiabatic bomb calorimeter). Results showed that effects of temperatures on growth of A.japonicus were significant(P 0.05).Specific growth rates (SGR) increased from -0.096%·d~(-1) at 10℃ to 2.722%·d~
