Immunohistochemical Study of the Localization of IFN-γ in the Ependyma of the Rat

Abstract:Using immunohistochemical SP method and visualized with glucose oxidase-DAB-nickel method examine the distribution and characteristics of Interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in normol adult rat ependyma.The results showed that IFN-γ immunoreactive production existed in the wall of the lateral ventricle（LV）,the third ventricle（V3）,the aqueduct of midbrain （MA）and the wall of the forth ventricle（V4）.These cells belonged to tanycyes and situated in the ependyma of LV、V3、V4.Their basal processes extended into the central gray.The results suggest that IFN-γ may be a novel brain-gut peptide and modulate brain-CSF circuit.
