Abstract:As a popular technology, Virtual Reality (VR) is getting into our lives at a rapid speed. Following this trend, there are more and more applications in different areas, especially in areas that are highly related to virtual design where VR can help to produce a sense of reality for people. Thus, this paper researched related articles and lectures to conclude current VR applications. This work mainly explores VR applications in movies, games, and media. This research also investigates the advantage, disadvantages, effects, and future development of the VR application in each field. These factories are the most representative area in this field so they can help to show the whole trend. From the study, it can see that the benefits VR brings overweight its disadvantages. VR will be more popular and useful with more effort from companies and universities, and it will change the way people treat these areas.

In recent years, architectural interior design has strengthened the widespread use of virtual reality (VR) technology. Abstract:Abstract Across numerous disciplines, virtual reality (VR) had been used to aid decision-making in training, design, and evaluation processes. Both the educational and industrial groups have contributed to a vast knowledge based on a variety of VR topics during the last two decades. VR has been expanded to industry in recent years, but the majority of its applications do not involve industrial robots. To study the application of VR technology in industrial design, it is better to combine the design activities with computer-integrated manufacturing system and bring new opportunities for the innovation of industrial design. Therefore, in this article, an application of industrial interactive design system based on VR technology in the education domain is explored. First, the function and scheme design of industrial robot assembly and adjustment system are designed, and the model is established. Finally, SolidWorks and 3DsMAX are selected as three-dimensional model development tools. Unity 3D is used as the VR development engine; HTC VIVE is used as VR equipment. The study shows that the design of the machine motion instruction interpreter is effective, and the specific steps of the system to realize real-time control are also given. The feasibility of the system is verified through the analysis of typical applications of industrial robots.

Abstract:Abstract VR (virtual reality) is a new type of audio-visual integrated information technology which integrates multimedia technology and network technology. The three significant characteristics of VR make it different from other visual technologies are on information interaction, spatial conception and perception comprehensiveness. With the unique presentation and 3D image generation of VR, it is gradually applied to many fields such as architecture, industry, environmental design, etc. VR through data model modeling and precise data calculation can maximize the intuitive display of the scene to be experienced according to the needs of customers, and improve the customer’s feelings and the timeliness of information exchange. At present, the application of VR in the world is more mature in the field of game industry and tourism. Abstract:Virtual reality (VR) is a popular information technology in design and manufacturing. In the conceptual design stage, VR has been proved to be an auxiliary tool with great potential. However, the development of VR in the conceptual design has not been systematically investigated. This study conducted a review of the application of VR in the conceptual design stage on design activities and cognitive needs in recent 18 years. This study proposed a framework of design activities and cognitive needs in the conceptual design stage based on the design information cycle model. The technical characteristics are analysed and role of VR in each phase of conceptual design is discussed. Then the principle and application value in developments of VR technology for conceptual design are analysed. Finally, the research directions and application scheme of VR in conceptual design in the future are discussed.

In the future, VR and AR technologies will bring huge economic benefits to related industries, and at the same time, they will lead the future of related industries. Virtual reality technology has evolved for decades since its birth. As a new technology, VR has greatly changed people's daily life. No matter in the field of graphic design or interior design, it can be used as a special technical means to effectively penetrate between abstract thinking and entity, thus promoting the change of people's design thinking. Therefore, VR technology has been paid more and more attention in recent years, so it is widely used. With the strengthening of China's national strength, VR/AR technology based on zSpace has been more and more applied to the field of graphic design. Therefore, this paper takes VR/AR technology based on zSpace as the research object, analyzes the application of VR/AR technology in graphic design in detail, sorts out the advantages and existing problems of VR/AR technology in graphic design field, and discusses the role of emerging technologies in graphic design field, hoping to provide reference and help for the improvement of virtual reality technology in graphic design field.

Abstract:The application of Virtual Reality (VR) technology to the field of urban planning and design is still in the primary phases,which means that the VR technology has not been integrated into the planning and design process by urban planners. Therefore,the technical method has to be studied for urban planning and design aided by VR in real-time. Taking the demand of urban planning and design practice into account,the technical method,which includes technical application characteristics and typical application process,was studied in the paper for urban planning and design aided by VR in real-time. Based on this research,the technical application characteristics consist of not only immersion and interaction,as well as 3D visualization,easy edition,and professional analysis. And the typical application process is composed of four aspects,such as VR system selection,VR scene construction,VR function integration,and professional analysis based on VR system. All the technical characteristics and the typical application process have to be considered during the whole periods of urban plan- ning and design.

Abstract:Purpose With the release of headsets such as HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in 2016, fully immersive virtual reality (VR) technology has become available for industrial designers to represent and communicate design ideas. However, how this development will affect industrial design education practice is not clear enough yet. The purpose of this study is to reveal and discuss the current status of using VR in industrial design education and potentials of it. Design/methodology/approach In the first part of the study, the use of computer technology in industrial design education and how VR can be positioned in the existing system is discussed by the acceptance of “design” as “representation”. In the second part, the literature review carried out to unveil and analyse the efforts for using VR in industrial design practice and education is presented. The results of the review are interpreted together with the design process in industrial design education. Findings VR has the potential for changing the operating ways of not only sketching, visualising, modelling, prototyping, presenting, demonstrating and evaluating design ideas, but also getting inspiration and collaborating in industrial design education. However, it is first necessary to solve the issue of how it will be integrated into industrial design education. Originality/value This paper presents the preliminary presumptions regarding the integration of VR into industrial design education that can contribute to future studies.

Abstract:Virtual Reality (VR) is maturing as a technology. Now that mainstream head-mounted displays (HMDs) are consumer-affordable, the space of application development has begun in earnest. Some of this development transitions existing applications (e.g. computer games) to work with a 3D tracked interface while others explore completely novel and innovative uses of VR. The idea of using VR in architectural practice has a long history. As a tool with the potential to allow 3D visualisation at 1:1scale, the use-case for architectural visualisation has seemed natural and obvious since the early days of the technology. However, the realisation of this idea was not initially straightforward. In 2000 UCL built a CAVE-like VR projection theatre – this is a 3m x 3m room where three of the four walls and the floor are stereo displays, viewed through tracked stereo glasses allowing perspective-correct stereo views. This was driven by a state-of-the-art SGI computer, many times more powerful than any standard PC (and about 20 times the size). However, despite this vast graphics processing power, most architectural models, could not easily be adapted to this new technology. These models had been designed for accurate renderings of detailed geometry. Twenty minutes of processing with standard computer graphics applications on a desktop PC could produce a beautiful rendering of a view into this model, but VR demands real-time frame rates (ideally at least 60 frames per second) and the models were simply too large and detailed for this. These tensions between designs for single viewpoint renderings and designs for real-time rendering are now better understood, and advances in both graphics hardware and software have improved this situation. However recent trends in consumer VR towards standalone headsets mean that simulations are now driven by the same graphics processors that drive the mobile devices in our pockets. Aside from these technical hurdles, the cost has been the main contributing factor to the relatively slow uptake of VR as a tool for exploring design, but now that we have affordable devices available, what are the factors that still hinder progress?

Abstract:Virtual reality (VR) refers to the computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image environment that can be interacted within a seemingly physical way by a person using special electronic equipment and making people interactive and immersive. VR technology is applied to communication activities, producing VR communication. VR technology is applied to news reports, giving birth to the emergence of VR news. The great significance of VR technology for news communication lies in the comprehensive intake and recording and transmission of news site materials so that news events can “reproduce” and “restore.” The most prominent feature of VR transmission is immersion. Immersivity is mainly reflected in the perceptual system and the behavioral system of the human body. The immersion of perception system includes visual immersion, auditory immersion, touch immersion, and other sensory immersion; behavioral system immersion includes the immersion of language system, direction system immersion, and expression system immersion. Immersive communication has experienced three development stages: interactive communication, invasive communication, infiltration, and audience experience. There are three hidden dangers in VR technology in the communication. One is the hidden danger of the technical operation level: the lack of security and stability of the production process may lead to the disappearance of the traditional reporter, the second is the ethical hidden danger: the degradation of “audience” to “mass,” and third is “body” weakening the authority of “addiction”: the emergence of “brain in the cylinder,” the emergence of snooping feast, and the formation of exposed carnival. There are three aspects to prevent VR hidden dangers, layout and top-level design, improve security, and communication efficiency, promote industrial application, enhance user stickiness, strengthen brand building, and create ace IP and quality content.

Abstract:Different from the western classical stone buildings, China has formed the traditional architectural style with wood as the main body since ancient times. With the progress of the times and the collision between Chinese and western cultures, people put forward higher requirements for the current urban planning and landscape design, hoping that the future urban landscape design can follow the style of “Chinese and new.” Traditional urban landscape design usually adopts solid model, rendering renderings, or three-dimensional animation, but these methods all have some defects. With the development of computer technology and the rise of Internet industry, virtual reality technology appears, and because of its excellent multiperception, immersion, interactivity, and autonomy, it is gradually applied to medical, military, entertainment, virtual city, and other fields of human life. Urban landscape design based on virtual reality technology is an important technical way of urban landscape design at present. It can help designers to better perfect the design details, experience it personally in the design process, find the existing problems and defects in the current design in time, and improve the design efficiency. It can also assist urban planners to make corresponding decisions. However, due to the high cost and the shortage of technical personnel, it is only implemented in a small area at present. Take the virtual Los Angeles project in the United States as an example, which is a typical case of the application of virtual reality technology in urban planning and construction and successfully realizes the interactive function between users and virtual environment. With the continuous development and improvement of virtual reality technology, there are more and more corresponding talents, and this technology will be widely used in the future urban planning and construction, forming our own “middle and new” urban landscape style.
