Abstract:In the current age of the knowledge network,innovative design plays an increasingly important role in promoting the core competitiveness of China as a country and of its cities,and building an innovative nation.By analyzing the internal factors that influence urban innovative design,this paper constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system for urban design competitiveness.It selects typical cities at home and abroad for empirical analysis,and then puts forward suggestions for improving urban design competitiveness.This study helps to identify a city's advantages and disadvantages,and to scientifically evaluate competitiveness in urban design.

Abstract:Using the methods of content analysis,comprehensive index evaluation,analytic hierarchy process,comparative analysis and statisti-cal analysis,this paper constructs the innovation evaluation index system of international metropolis,that is the international metropolis innova-tion index(IMII)through systematically analyzing the characteristics of innovation,driving features and factors of innovation activities of inter-national metropolis and drawing the lessons from four typical innovative indexes.Then it tests the reliability and validity of this evaluation index system by selecting 14 representative international metropolis for empirical analysis.The result shows that this evaluation index system embod-ies the trend of integration of service innovation and technological innovation,and are used to evaluate the innovation capability of international metropolis more comprehensively and objectively.

Abstract:After noticing that there was still lack of research for evaluating the sustainable development status for China's historic cities,this article aimed at constructing an indicators' system for the evaluation.Basing on extensive and all-around research documents and with carefully justif ication,an indicators' system is set up,consisting of 51 indicators,4 scopes.The 4 scopes are resource and environment sustainable index,society sustainable index,economy sustainable index,and historic city's cultural value sustainable index.The historic city's cultural value sustainable index is a new point set specifically for historic cities.It comprises of two aspects:the Protection of historic city's cultural value and the utility of historic city's cultural value.This indicators' system is useful for evaluating the sustainable development status of historic cities,and also helpful for leading the way for the city's development.

Abstract:Smart city is a complex systematic engineering.It not only needs planning,constructing,managing and running,but also requires evaluating,optimizing and adjusting,in order to keep the smart city construction prospective,reasonable and effective.According the problems such as the blind construction and the unsatisfied results during the process of the smart city construction,we carry on the theoretical exploration about smart city evaluation system based on studying the indexes included in smart city and relation among them,and further propose the method of the smart city evaluation system.The core of the method is the smart city evaluation indexes system,evaluation method and optimization strategy.At last,the feasibility of the method is proved by an example.

Abstract:In the context of globalization,urban internationalization has become the trend and goals of China's urban development,at the same time,due to the insufficient quantitative study,the waste brought by international city construction is larger and larger.Therefore the article systematically summarizes the concept of international city,and reviews the current main studies on indicator systems for international city,then the paper constructs an index system consisting of 18 indicators to evaluate the economic internationalization level,international talent exchange level,international cultural appeal,international political influence and ecological development level.The article also describes the Information Entropy Method needed to use the index system.Lastly,the internationalization levels of Shanghai,Beijing,Guangzhou,Shenzhen,and Tianjin are evaluated and compared.The results verified the reasonableness and effectiveness of the index system.The study provides a basic foundation for the accurate quantitative evaluation of internationalization level of China's cities,so it can provide strategic guidance and decision support.for the development of international cities.

Abstract:A scientific evaluation index system for intelligent transportation system (ITS) can play an important role in guiding the development of ITS for decision makers in smart communities. This study aims to develop a set of performance indicators for the effective evaluation of the transportation system in a smart community in China. The main goals of the developed evaluation index are determined after a careful review of the various index systems implemented by various agencies worldwide. A set of indicators divided into the following six categories are then presented: transport structure, traffic information service, traffic efficiency, traffic safety, energy and pollution reduction, and social inclusion. To further discuss the practical application of the index system, a number of indicators are defined in detail and applied in arterial and public transportation efficiency evaluations based on the available dataset. Results from the index calculation show that the index proposed in this study can be adopted in evaluating the transportation system performance in smart communities based on big data.

Abstract:Ranking cities is considered an effective instrument to rate and qualify the specific image of cities and encourage them to define and improve sustainable development strategies, but it has also been criticized for generating biased outcomes. Recently, the number of rankings for inclusive cities is rising, in fact along with growing investments in inclusive city projects and initiatives. The inclusive city rankings have both the strength to enhance lesson-drawing and self-improvement and the weakness to exacerbate competition among un-equals. In this article, nine different ranking systems for assessing urban inclusion are scrutinized and compared. Based on relevant theory regarding inclusive urban development and ranking systems, a methodology to compare and assess ranking systems is established, building on different quality aspects. The findings indicate that although for most ranking systems much essential information to understand how they produce results can be retrieved, motivations for generating these inclusive city rankings can be moral, utilitarian, or a combination of both, and that evaluation methods and dissemination of the results sometimes lack transparency and timeliness. Some metrics are incomplete and/or biased toward specific dimensions and indicators. The consistency across the ranking systems in producing the best-performing cities is much stronger than that of the worst-performing cities. Moreover, an obvious developed-developing gap was observed in the sense that most high performers are in Europe and to a lesser extent Nord-America, while the bottom 25 % are primarily in developing countries. Finally, suggestions are given to make methodologies for inclusive ranking systems more transparent, comprehensive and less biased.

Abstract:Science and technology innovation has become the core driving force of urban development, and innovation spaces as the carriers of innovation activities have evolved continuously, forming the emerging model of innovation districts in recent years. However, the evaluation standard of innovation spaces has not changed with the evolution of the model, and the evaluation method that focuses on economic benefits still dominates the mainstream. As a result, the construction of innovation spaces around these indicators and guidelines lags behind the advanced level.In this paper, we have systematically sorted out the relevant research progress of innovation districts, established a set of cases with global typicality, combined the dual attributes of “innovation characteristics + urban characteristics,” constructed a research framework for the spatial quality of innovation districts based on the dual perspectives of “innovation space,” and summarized the spatial quality evaluation model through analysis. We do an empirical study on Haidian District to find out how well innovation districts work in terms of space, find typical clusters, and come up with the most important aspects of their space quality. In order to observe the applicability of this method, it is also applied to the urban health check-up in Chaoyang District, Beijing. Through the expert seminar, the evaluation and analysis method of spatial quality of innovative urban areas is further verified and discussed. The results show that the integration of innovative urban areas and urban structures, and the collaborative development of innovative industries and high-quality spaces are the keys to promote the common development of innovative economy and cities. The new evaluation method can effectively measure the quality of innovation spaces, and has certain transferability.

Abstract:Technological empowerment has facilitated the development of cities, which have progressed from pre-industrial to industrial to information-based and are currently transitioning towards the advanced stage of smart cities. The evolution and transformation of cities are fuelled by technology, which serves as a key driver. Disruptive technologies are radically scientific innovations that dramatically change the way consumers, businesses, and industries operate by destroying the value of existing technical competencies, thereby providing organisations with the capability or technical foundation to alter their business environments. To ensure that a city has a clear understanding of its smart city development direction, it is crucial to establish a scientifically valid and reliable evaluation index and method to analyse and recognise the disruptive technologies closely related to industrial development, transformation, and competitiveness in smart cities. However, there is a paucity of study on this topic. This paper addresses this research gap by developing a framework for disruptive technology identification and evaluation for smart cities using an entropy weight method and analytic hierarchy process. The evaluation index system contains 5 primary indicators and 11 secondary indicators according to the connotation of disruptive technologies in smart cities. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed framework are verified in the field of information science. This study provides technical knowledge and theoretical support for the evaluation and construction of smart cities.

Abstract:In recent years, with the rapid expansion of urbanization, urban diseases are getting worse. Smart city as a sustainable development solution, has played an increasingly important role. Base on the existing smart city evaluation system, this study has constructed an evaluation index system with 5 dimensions and 14 indicators. The AHP method was introduced to calculate the weight of indicators and their ranking. The results showed that among the five dimensions, smart infrastructure is the most important, followed by smart public services, smart public management, and smart industry economy and finally is the smart security system. This smart city evaluation index system provides a theoretical reference and practical basis for measuring the development level of smart city.

Abstract:Smart city evaluation is a critical component in smart city construction and plays an important role in guiding and promoting smart development of cities. Currently, existing research and applications of smart city evaluation are still in the exploration stage. They mainly focus on evaluation of one single aspect, use indicators with distinct regional characteristics and poor extensibility, and cannot be well-integrated with common and shareable smart city frameworks; these limitations have led to biased evaluation results. Based on a common and shareable smart city framework, this paper proposes a well-integrated, universal, strongly practical, and highly extensible evaluation system. Then, using the above-mentioned evaluation system, 17 smart cities in China are assessed. This application demonstrates that the evaluation system plays an important guiding role for better understanding the overall smart city platform construction situation in China, performing horizontal comparisons and establishing benchmarks among smart cities. Comparative analyses of indicators demonstrate that future smart city construction in China should pay more attention to novel innovations, the construction of dynamic information resources and spatiotemporal big data.
