Preliminary Research and Study on Bird Diversity of Hunan City Uni-versity in summer

Abstract:During May to September, 2014, we did a preliminary research on bird diversity at the old and new cam-puses of Hunan City University with line transect method. We observed and recorded 22 kinds of birds which belong to 5 orders, 14 families and 19 genera. In addition, we analyzed the diversity of birds under different ecological environments with Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index Formula and Pielou Evenness Index Formula. Based on the study, the Diversity In-dex under artificial environment is 2.06, and the Evenness Index is 0.80, which are higher than the indexes under forest e-cological environment. This shows that Hunan City University is undergoing a fast urbanization process, which has a vital influence on the migration and diversity of the birds.
