Researches on the performance of residential air conditioner by controlling the opening of electronic expansion valve and refrigerant charge

Abstract:The variation of the opening of electronic expansive valve (EEV) significantly influences the system operation parameters including the system subcooling and superheating degrees as well as the evaporation pressure.The effects of the EEV opening,the compressor operating frequency and the refrigerant charge on the performance of an air conditioner were studied in this paper.The results show that the COP and cooling capacity increase first and then decrease with the increasing opening of EEV at a fixed compressor operating frequency.The maximum COP and capacity are achieved at the same opening of EEV.The residential air-conditioning system shows higher COP at lower compressor operating frequency.The COP and cooling capacity increase first and then decrease with the increasing refrigerant charge.Considering the maximum COP and refrigeration capacity,the optimal refrigerant charge is 1 230g.
