Abstract:The overall design of a high efficiency and high precision centering device for ship pipe welding was put forward. To ensure the pipe centering accuracy,in this device,same direction tapered tube and steel balls were used to lock the inner wall of the pipe. To improve efficiency,in this device,hydraulic cylinder was used to provide power. Using finite element analysis software AN-SYS,the structure was analyzed,and the feasibility of the device was verified through tests.

Abstract:The existed semi-automatic ultrasound eddy current testing system is difficult to adapt to the situation of seamless steel tube detection requirements at present. This paper puts forward an ultrasonic eddy current synchronous auto-detection system. The principle of ultrasonic eddy current testing tube and the design of the ultrasonic eddy current probe frame are introduced. Software system uses ultrasonic and eddy current imaging at the same time, and ultrasonic testing’s results can be displayed by A+B+C combination imaging. The quasi three-dimensional imaging system can offer more convenient methods to detect personnel. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the system.

Abstract:For the application of real-time database in a petrochemical plant,the article put forwards to a new concept to resolve the communication among real-time database and DCS,control software,and Web-based user interface.The scheme is developed based on Windows 2000 Server using the technique of multe-threading,anolymous pipe and WinSock,etc.The results of long industrial running of this scheme show that it is more effective and feasible for industrial process.

Abstract:An intelligent program is put forward to detect and control pipeline arc welding.The AT89C52 single chip processor was used as hard core;the distributed computer control system was adopted;and a master-slave system was founded.After associated debugging,it has been proved that the system has many merits,such as multiple function,rough and ready operating,stable work status and high control precision.It completely meets the technical needs of pipeline arc welding.

Abstract:A DSP-based real-time seam tracking system for PAW stainless welded pipes is presented here in the paper with details concerning such main aspects as the working principle,and the design tips of both software and hardware of the control system,etc.The laser sensor is used in this system to measure the position of the seam,and the Fuzzy-P double-mode control technique is adopted to rectify deviation of the seam.The DSP is used as the central controller to produce control signal which drives the motor for vertical movement of the welding torch,and makes the welded pipe rotating so as to realize the real-time automatic seam tracking with the welding torch,and the adaptive speed control according to the weld seam dimensions.The results of the experiments demonstrate that the said system is capable of bring about the real-time automatic seam tracking of the welding pipe by the welding torch,having completely met the requirement for the welding operation.

Abstract:The development of modern economy makes the demand for pipeline construction and construction rapidly increasing, and the pipeline welding has become an important link in pipeline construction. At present, there are still a large number of using of manual welding methods at home and abroad, and field pipe welding especially lacks miniature and portable automatic welding equipment. An automated welding system consists of a control system, which consisting of a lower computer control panel and a host computer operating interface, as well as automatic welding machine mechanisms and welding power systems in coordination with the control system. In this paper, a new control system of automatic pipe welding based on the control panel of the lower computer and the interface of the host computer is proposed, which has many advantages over the traditional automatic welding machine.

Abstract:An optimized database system for control of weld bead shape of submerged arc welding on spiral pipes is developed based on Visual Basic 6.0 of Chinese Enterprise Edition and Access 2003 DBMS.This system based on more data and results,accumulated in production practice and scientific experiment,depending on past pattern given from different processing condition and establishing homologous both database and graphic database.The database system includes basic state,welding material,process factor,welding condition,structure factor and other conditions.In corresponding with the appraising with past pattern,it not only can attain restore,renewal,increase or decrease,printout and other operations of data,but can accord as differ demands of users,utilize material quality,thickness,diameter and other single conditions or combination conditions to querying as well.The system also can analyze contrast query results,and obtain optimized process parameter.

Abstract:In the investigation , first, an automatic control system of narrow-gap magnetic controlled tungsten inert gas ( TIG) arc welding for thick plates is designed , and the principle of avoiding the defect of incomplete penetra-tion on side walls by adopting an alternatively-changed magnetic field to deflect welding arc towards left or right pe-riodically is introduced.Next, by taking a programmable logic controller (PLC) as the core and based on its cha-racteristic, a control system is overall designed , and two independent arc length control systems are designed to keep the tungsten electrode exactly in the middle of the gap and at a relatively constant height .Then, a sensing and motion control system is designed and established , and effective protection of weld seam is realized by employing high-precision gas sensors to detect and control the actual flow rate of shielding gas and by implementing the real -time measurment and control of the distance between the shielding covering and the substrate .Finally, a suitable welding power source is selected and modified to realize a digital control , and a vision monitoring system for indus-try is set up.The results of welding experiments on thick titanium plates demonstrate that the designed automatic control system is reliable and stable , and it has the potentiality to be promoted in industry .

Abstract:In order to improve the degree of automation in plastic pipe production and save labor cost, this paper proposes a design scheme about the electric control system design of straight pipe automatic conveyor line. The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is the core control component in this system. This system can control the start and stop of production lines by applying communication between computer and PLC, change the number of each bundle of pipes, and monitor online the operation conditions of automatic transmission lines. Finally, actual operation of the system shows that it runs steadily, operates simply, and is highly automatic with low labor cost.

Abstract:The anti-interference design of pipe welding robot is the key of pipe welding process stability,in which the one of main effects is the anti-interference circuit design of pipe welding robot.The paper presents the measures by analyzing the circuits of restoration,clock,power supply,mechanical switch contact and arc voltage sampling in pipe welding robot,such as adopting MAX692A hardware watchdog and shielding twisted-pair(STP),designing anti-interference clock circuit,developing lowpass in order to filtrate high-frequency interference in supply power lines,adopting separate special microcomputer switch power supply, using light-electricity separation and software delay to eliminate mechanical switch contact interference and taking separating and absorbing measures in arc voltage sampling circuit.

Abstract:Aiming at the seam tracking and weld penetration based on welding temperature field, seam position and penetration parameters were extracted by image processing which is captured by a compact real-time measurement system. An intelligent controller was designed for welding process charactering as multivariable and non-linear to realize dynamic control for seam tracking and weld penetration control. Finally, the developed system was applied in the seam tracking and penetration control of inner welding of spiral steel pipe with submerged arc welding.

Abstract:As informationizing process widespread in the steel pipe manufacture enterprises, large volumes of data from production process is stored in the data warehouse of the management information system (MIS) in the enterprises. This paper presents a comprehensive utilization method of data based on MIS in steel pipe manufacture enterprises to fit the practical situation of this type of enterprises in order to analyze and control the production process and to meet the requirement of ISO9001:2000, which combines the Shewhart control charts and Z-MR chart to inspect and control the production process, with the definition of "project", which is defined as a kind of steel pipe manufacture organization of the same specification, material and standard. The paper also presents a multivariate quality control method by combining T-2-chart and Z-MR chart to solve multivariate quality management problems.
SPC ROBOT: A Novel Pipe-Climbing Robot with Spiral Extending of Coupled Differential

Abstract:Pipe robot is a kind of special robot, which is used in pipe detection and maintenance for the petroleum, natural gas and other pipe environment. Traditional pipe robots are only for horizontal or gentle slope pipes and difficult to adapt cliffy pipes of different sizes. This paper developed a novel spiral pipe-climbing robot (SPC Robot), which can adapt pipes of different diameters and tilt angles. The SPC Robot is composed of a series of modules driven by three motors. Each module consists of a coupled differential transmission (CDT) mechanism, spiral travel wheels, springs, a controller and batteries. The CDT mechanism realizes power transmission among all modules by competition of speeds in outer and inner shafts. Experimental results show that the SPC Robot is valid to dexterously climb vertical pipes and self-adapt pipes of different sizes. The serial chain and trajectory of the SPC Robot are spiral and the SPC Robot can be supported while it is climbing the pipe simultaneously. The SPC Robot is easy to control, low cost and compact in structure, and suitable for pipe detection and maintenance in complex environment.
