Abstract:Partner selection is critical for the success of a complex product system (CoPS) project. The factors influencing partner selection are summarized and quantified, and a multi-objective integer programming model is proposed to formulate the decision making process of partner selection. The objective is to reduce the risk of project failure and to minimize the overall project cost and the tardiness penalty. An optimal combination of partners could be found for all sub-projects. An ant colony algorithm is proposed to solve the partner selection model. The numeric test results showed that the proposed model, together with its ant colony algorithm, is effective in selecting partners for CoPS projects.

Abstract:Supplier selection problem, considered as a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, is one of the most important issues for firms. Lots of literatures about it have been emitted since 1960s. However, the criteria used by most of them are independent, which usually does not correspond with the real world. From the perspective of reducing this shortcoming, this paper develops a model by using analytic network process (ANP), an extension of analytic hierarchy process (AHP), which incorporates the relationship of interdependence and feedback in a multilevel decision network, the criteria included in this model are categorized in four control hierarchies, that is, benefits, opportunities, costs and risks (BOCR). The proposed model is then implemented in a diesel engine manufacturing firm.

Abstract:According to Strategic Alignment Model (SAM), Information system (IS) project selection problems are not only multi-criteria decision-making problems, but also have different relationships among factors that have influences on the selection of IS projects under different IS application goals, and are characterized with the complexity of interdependent relationships among objectives, criteria and candidate projects. Existing methods for the problems did not fully consider the above characteristics of the problems due to the limitations of the tools (e.g. Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP) they used. Developed by Saaty, Analytical Network Process (ANP) provides a powerful way to resolve the interdependence of elements in decision-making problems. With the attempt of combining ANP methodology with SAM, this paper proposes an integrated approach for strategic decision on IS project selection. SAM is used as the theoretical foundation for problem solving, from which some fundamental relationships for IS project selection are formulated. ANP is used as the framework for modeling the problems. Application steps of the proposed methodology are also outlined.

Abstract:The present study intends to present a supplier selection method, which also considers green indicators due to environmental protection issues, by using an analysis network process (ANP) as well as data envelopment analysis (DEA). ANP which is able to consider the interdependency between criteria releases the constraint of DEA that the users cannot set up criteria weight preferences. The model evaluation results for high-tech industry show that the proposed method can provide not only reasonable outcomes with a smaller number of decision making units, but can also provide more consistent results.

Abstract:To enhance the validity of the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) in partner selection problems during the formation of the agile virtual enterprise(AVE),a new trigonometric fuzzy number-AHP(TFN-AHP) model was given.The criteria weights were calculated using the logarithmic least square method in the model,the data element of judgment matrix was replaced by the TFN,and the inconsistent information produced in the group decision-making process was synthesized and eliminated by combining the properties of TFN algorithms.Theoretical analysis and case results show that the proposed model makes experts' judgment method more accordant with human thought mode,handles disagreements between different rankings more effectively,and enables experts to obtain the consensus decision according to every criterion.The model structure is simple and normative,and the evaluation conclusions are fair and reasonable.The model makes experts get valid information from each decision element at every hierarchy for the reference in decision-making,and improves the efficiency of solving practical evaluation problems.

Abstract:International supplier selection which includes different criteria can be regarded as a kind of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problems. By combining the analytic network process (ANP) with the Vlsekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method in hesitant fuzzy (HF) environment, this paper proposes a HF-ANP-VIKOR method. First, a novel HF-ANP approach is presented to determine the weight of each criterion. In this approach, the preference relations between criteria are hesitant fuzzy preference relations (HFPRs) whose elements are hesitant fuzzy elements (HFEs). According to the distance between two HFPRs, a new compatibility measure for HFPRs is proposed to measure the compatibility degrees of HFPRs. If the HFPRs are acceptable compatibility, they are converted into fuzzy preference relations by which the weights of sub-criteria are determined. Subsequently, extending the classical VIKOR method into HF environment, a new HF-VIKOR method is put forward to rank the alternatives. Finally, a case of Nantong uasia import and export limited company is studied to illustrate the practicability and effectiveness of the HF-ANP-VIKOR method proposed in this paper.

Abstract:The electronics manufacturing industry is in an era of collaborative thinking and rapid change, as the rise of strategic alliances (SAs) plays a critical role in supply chain management. Strategic alliance (SA) collaboration is one of the most common strategies in the electronics industry, helping companies to complement each other. Most organizations or alliances operate together to produce more beneficial technologies for mutual benefit based on the sustainability thinking, such as in the areas of 5G, electric vehicles, aerospace, and smart healthcare. As the prompt evolution of information technology and electronics has a deep impact on global business activities, selecting partners based on a sustainability perspective is an urgent task. This paper proposes a complete sustainable SA partner selection framework to select the optimal partners. A neutrosophic-based decision-making model is used in the analysis. The neutrosophic ITARA technique is proposed to generate a set of criteria objective weights, and the neutrosophic TOPSIS technique is applied to determine the performance and priority of sustainable SA partners. This study introduces neutrosophic fuzzy logic to reflect the uncertainty in complex problems. Real-world data from a multinational passive component manufacturing company are used for case demonstration and analysis. The framework and methodology proposed in this study have many contributions to the electronics industry, including the establishment of assessment criteria, the identification of criteria, and the provision of partner selection practices. For academic research, the proposed model can be replicated in other areas of assessment and selection issues.

Abstract:Current environmental issues and government requirements, together with pressure from the market and other stakeholders, emphasise the importance of partner selection in constructing and operating sustainable supply chains. Strategic items, which carry both high supply risk and high importance of purchase, are particularly important in sustainable supply chains. This paper presents an integrated decision-making model, which aims to solve the partner selection and order allocation problem for strategic items in sustainable supply chains. In the proposed model, weightings of different decision-makers are first calculated using Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers. Then, Taguchi loss function is used to evaluate the relative importance of potential partners, with the weighting results of criteria by Best-Worst Method. Finally, considering the weights of different potential partners, Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) is used to solve the multi-objective programming problem, and Technique of Order Preference Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is applied to identify the most appropriate Pareto solution for sustainable partner selection and order allocation of strategic items. An illustrative application of the proposed model is undertaken in a leading Chinese LED lighting manufacturer to show its effectiveness and applicability.

Abstract:Chinese organizations have paid much more attention to the green supply chain (GSC) than ever before, and much of them have put it into practice. Certain decision-making problems in GSC's strategic plan stage were discussed, key factors and their relationship during GSC's operation were analyzed, and an ANP-Based strategic decision model was put forward. An illustrative case was given to explain the entire process of working out the model by the analytic network process (ANP). Finally, simple sensitivity analysis with pairwise comparison evaluations was illustrated. The conclusion is helpful to guide the construction and implementation of GSC.

Abstract:In recent years, with the raising of awareness in environmental protection and sustainable development in enterprises, the green issue has become more and more critical in supply chain management. This study intends to develop a green supplier selection model which integrates artificial neural network (ANN) and two multi-attribute decision analysis (MADA) methods: data envelopment analysis (DEA) and analytic network process (ANP). It is called ANN–MADA hybrid method. ANN–MADA hybrid method considers both practicality in traditional supplier selection criteria and environmental regulations. It also overcomes traditional DEA drawbacks, limitations of data accuracy and decision-making units (DMUs) amounts constraint. The model evaluation results of an international well-known camera manufacturer indicate that the ANN–MADA hybrid method outperforms two other hybrid methods, ANN–DEA and ANP–DEA. It was also discovered that ANN–MADA has better power of discrimination and noise-insensitivity in evaluating green suppliers’ performances.

Abstract:Catering supplier selection is multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem faced by airline industry. The evaluation process primarily involves the assessment of several complex factors for selecting a catering supplier that will best meet the airline requirements. There are a few applications of the catering supplier selection model. The approach of this paper is towards the solution for catering supplier selection. This study integrates the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with a type of performance rating involving the determination a degree of utility by additive ratio assessment (ARAS) and multi-choice goal programming (MCGP). A real-life case study in selecting a catering supplier is also presented.

Abstract:Global supplier selection has a critical effect on the competitiveness of the entire supply chain network. Research results indicate that the supplier selection process appears to be the most significant variable in deciding the success of the supply chain. It helps in achieving high quality products at lower cost with higher customer satisfaction. Apart from the common criteria such as cost and quality, this paper also discusses some of the important decision variables which can play a critical role in case of the international sourcing. The importance of the political-economic situation, geographical location, infrastructure, financial background, performance history, risk factors, etc., have also been pointed out in particularly in the case of global supplier selection. Supplier selection problem related to the global sourcing is more complex than the general domestic sourcing and as a result it needs more critical analysis, which could not be found properly in past available literatures. This paper discusses the fuzzy based Analytic Hierarchy Process (fuzzy-AHP) to efficiently tackle both quantitative and qualitative decision factors involved in selection of global supplier in current business scenario. The fuzzy-AHP is an efficient tool to tackle the fuzziness of the data involved in deciding the preferences of the different decision variables involved in the process of global supplier selection. The triangular fuzzy numbers are used to transform the linguistic comparison of the different decision criteria, sub-criteria and performance of the alternative suppliers. The pairwise comparison matrices help in deciding the synthetic extent value of each comparison and finally, the priority weights of one alternative over another are decided in this paper. An example from a manufacturing industry searching for the global supplier for a critical component is used to demonstrate the effective implementation procedure of proposed fuzzy-AHP technique. The proposed model can provide the guidelines and directions for the decision makers to effectively select their global suppliers in the current competitive business scenario.

Abstract:This article will tell you how to combine “entropy” in the model to reduce the bias of multi-criteria evaluation. Subjective weights are usually determined by decision makers based on their professional background, experience and knowledge, and other factors. The objective weight is obtained by constructing an evaluation matrix of the information based on the actual information of the evaluation criteria of the scheme, and obtained through multi-step calculations. Different decision-making methods are based on different weight types. Considering only one of the two weights often leads to biased results. In addition, in order to establish an effective supply chain, buyers must find suitable merchants among suppliers that provide quality products and/or services. Based on the above factors, it is difficult to choose a suitable alternative. The main contribution of this paper is to combine analytic network process (ANP), entropy weight and the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) to construct a suitable multi-criteria decision (MCDM) model. By means of ANP-entropy weights to extend the TOPSIS method, ANP-entropy weights are used to replace subjective weights. A supplier selection decision-making model based on ANP-entropy TOPSIS is proposed. At last, the sensitivity analysis shows that, taking the selection of building materials suppliers as an example, the hybrid ANP-entropy TOPSIS method can effectively select suitable suppliers.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the state of the art of partner selection and enumerates the advantage of partner selection based on gray relation analysis comparing to the other algorithms of the partner selection. Furthermore, partner selection system based on gray relation for an Agile Virtual Enterprise(AVE) is analyzed and designed based on the definition and characteristics of the AVE. According to J2EE mode, the architecture of the partner selection system is put forward and the system is developed using JSP, EJB and SQL Server. The paper lays emphasis on a gray relational mathematic model, AVE evaluation infrastructure, a core algorithm of partner selection and a multi-layer gray relation selection process.

Abstract:Peer selection is a multi-criteria decision making problem. In order to improve the accuracy of peer selection in mobile peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, this paper proposes an integrated approach of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Grey Relation Analysis (GRA) to consider various correlative parameters in selecting the optimum peer. The proposed scheme comprises two parts. The first part employs the AHP to determine the weights of criteria. The second part applies the GRA to rank alternatives and select the best peer. The simulation results show that the algorithm enables request peers to accurately select the service peer to improve the quality of mobile P2P service.

Abstract:Purpose Selecting the most meaningful performance indicators, i.e. key performance indicators (KPIs), represents one of the major challenges that companies have to face for developing an effective performance measurement system (PMS). Selecting KPIs can be interpreted as a multiple criteria decision‐making (MCDM) problem, involving a number of factors and related interdependencies. The purpose of this paper is to propose a model, based on the analytic network process (ANP), for driving managers in the selection of KIPs. The model draws upon the consideration that KPIs can be evaluated and selected on the basis of a set of criteria, theoretically founded, and the feedback dependencies between the criteria and performance indicators as well as among indicators. Design/methodology/approach Based on a review of management literature regarding the information quality required by performance measures, the paper identifies a set of criteria for selecting KIPs. The criteria form the building blocks of the proposed ANP model. The feasibility of the model is proved through its application to a real case. Findings The paper proposes and illustrates the practical application of an ANP‐based model for selecting KPIs. The use of the ANP makes it possible to extracts weights for setting the priorities among indicators, by taking account of mutual dependencies among indicators and criteria. This enhances the quality of the selection process. Originality/value Often managers choose KPIs without an accurate approach. The paper offers a novel model for driving managers towards the choice of KPIs through a rigorous approach, based on the ANP method. The model draws on a solid theoretical foundation and has been proven in practice.

Abstract:Choosing a partner is a critical factor for success in international strategic alliances, although criteria for partner selection vary between developed and transitional markets. This study aims to develop effective methods to assist enterprise to measure the firms' operation efficiency, find out the candidate priority under several different inputs and outputs, and forecast the values of those variables in the future. The methodologies are constructed by the concepts of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and grey model (GM). Realistic data in four consecutive years (2009-2012) a total of 20 companies of the Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) industry that went public are completely collected. This paper tries to help target company-DMU1-to find the right alliance partners. By our proposed approach, the results show the priority in the recent years. The research study is hopefully of interest to managers who are in manufacturing industry in general and EMS enterprises in particular.
