Historical Mission of Manufacturing Industry and the Enrichment of Its Connotation

Abstract:In order to probe into the fate of manufacturing industry in the coming society and knowledge society, so as to make clear the foothold of macro-decision on the development of manufacturing industry of China, a useful discussion is conducted by generalizing historical rule on the perspective of development.The historical mission of manufacturing industry is divided into the following stages: satisfying the basic needs of living of mankind→satisfying the needs of the development of economic competition→satisfying the needs of sustainable development of ecosystem→creating a fire-new form of human civilization; the connotation of the manufacturing industry is sure to breach the limitation of current understanding obtained from the present science and economy background, and extend to the new time, space and all the sections of man's existence.The theme of development of manufacturing industry in the 21st century and some fields where might emerge upsurge and prosperity are analyzed, and it is concluded that the 21st century is as well a century of manufacturing as a century of information and knowledge. This basic conclusion is the footstone of our strategic orientation.
