Abstract:ISO 13584,i.e. PLIB, provides a representation of part library information together with the necessary mechanisms and definitions to enable part library data to be exchanged, used and updated. The paper gives an overview of the architecture of the standard and the relationship between ISO 13584 and STEP.Finally,the guideline for introducing ISO13584 to China's industry is given. Also, the key to building an national part library information system based on ISO 13584 is dealt with in detail.
