Abstract:Brushless doubly-fed machines (BDFM) show potential benefits in adjustable speed drive systems of large power by their reduced converter size. Up to now, there is not a good control strategy for BDFM, which limits the application of BDFM. In order to improve performance and extend application, there must have some new control strategies. Taken advantage of the relation between synchronous angle and torque, a simple and practical vector decoupled control strategies is proposed in this paper. Moreover, this control method is simple, and its complexity is comparable to vector controllers for conventional induction machines. Therefore, this control method is appropriate for high performance drive systems.

Abstract:Brushless doubly-fed motor (BDFM) removes the electronic brush and the slip rings compared to the conventional induction machine,which enhances the reliability of the machine.Based on the mathematical model of BDFM,a new control method was proposed in this paper by analyzing the current space vector of the power windings and control windings in the stator and deducing the torque equation of BDFM.This method has good dynamics and static performance and can offer unity power factor.And it was tested by simulation and experiment.

Abstract:The brushless doubly-fed machine(BDFM) was analyzed and its mathematical model was established.According to d-q coordinate transformation,the basic electromagnetic equations,the power equation and torque equation based on the motor rotor coordinate system were established.The direct torque control(DTC) strategy was researched and the switching state table of the inverter based on flux error and torque error was established.The simulation model of BDFM DTC system based on U-I flux model was built in MATLAB/Simulink.Better performance of BDFM DTC system was verified by observing flux and torque waveform in different occasions.The simulation results show that BEFM DTC system using the control method can improve the performance and achieve good dynamic and static characteristics in high speed range.

Abstract:The modeling and controlling methods of Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM) are more complex than those of traditional machines due to its special structure and operating mechanism. In this paper, BDFM dynamic mathematical model at synchronous speed rotating dq-axis coordinate is studied, and the vector control strategy is optimized by using current integrated vector. This vector control strategy does not need to calculate the rotor flux, reduces the dependence on the rotor parameters and can achieve accurate speed control by given speed and vector angle. And then, saturable parameter or variable parameter PI controller are adopted respectively, and compared with the traditional PI controller. The results show that the former two controllers can effectively improve the dynamic response of BDFM. Furthermore, the vector angle optimization by gradient descent method can effectively adjust the reactive power of BDFM and improve the power factor of the speed control system. Finally, the correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulation.

Abstract:The VSCF generation ability of Cascade Brushless Doubly-Fed Generator(CBDFG) was demonstrated using modeling and simulation of this dq model with the help of a rotating reference frame dq model of CBDFG.In order to study VSCF control strategy of CBDFG,a method of Field Oriented Control was utilized.A synchronous reference frame MT model of CBDFG was established first,then a kind of control strategy based on stator flux linkage oriention of CBDFG was put forward.A computer simulation model has been established using Matlab/Simulink and S function,Simulation results of CBDFG in no-load,load,and grid connected control strategies verified the validity of the FOC control strategy.

Abstract:Brushless doubly-fed machine(BDFM) speed control system based on vector control strategy performs well.System performance can meet the need of the operation,but still havs some flows.For example,the result has bigger overshot and slow dynamic performance characteristics.In foundation of the vector control strategy in this paper,fuzzy-adaptive control strategy is union with PID controller.This method is used to BDFM vector control system.The effects of the simulation in Matlab simulink 5.0 indicate that the dynamic property is evidently improved by controller.

Abstract:The brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) has prospect application in the wind energy conversion system (WECS) for its abilities of speed regulation and variable-speed constant-frequency. The decoupled control of the active and reactive power is crucial to the applications of the BDFM in WECS. The robust control strategy based on sliding mode theory is applied for the independent control of active and reactive power of the BDFM. The controller is designed through the Lyapunov stable theory to ensure the stability of controller and achieve the required control result. The effect of the proposed method is tested with the matlab/simulink software. Simulation results illustrate the good performance of the controller and proves the power control strategy's feasibility.

Abstract:A novel passive control strategy was proposed to improve the dynamic response performance of the speed and load torque of the brushless doubly-fed machine( BDFM) with the nonlinear PID control scheme,and the oscillation as the load changes suddenly. The Euler-Lagrangian model of BDFM was established based on the equations of the voltage,flux and torque of BDFM in synchronous speed rotary coordinate system. The passivity of the electrical subsystems and mechanical subsystems of the machine were analysized by the view of energy, and the controllers of the torque and speed were designed. In order to improve the system dynamic response and reduce its sensitivity to parameter variations, the nonlinear damping was added into the controller to make the system achieve fast convergence. A novel simulation model of BDFM with passivity control strategy was built in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The simulation results showed that a given speed of BDFM could be fastly tracked, BDFM had good dynamic performance,global stability and good robustness with the passive control strategy.

Abstract:A passivity-based control(PBC)strategy with energy consideration for brushless doubly-fed machines (BDFM)is proposed.The model of BDFM described by Euler equations is also presented.The system is decomposed into two feedback interconnected passive subsystems,an electrical subsystem and a mechanical subsystem.The electrical subsystem is the unique one to be considered in designing the controllers for the torque and speed of BDFM,thus,simplifying the control algorithm.In addition,we also consider in the design the machine power and the resistance variation in the control winding during operation,thus developing an adaptive controller which makes the system robust in performance.Simulation results show that the system output tracks the reference speed quickly,with desirable static and dynamic performance,global stability as well as high robustness.

Abstract:The brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) is a new type of electrical machines with two AC electrical ports and a common mechanical port.It inherently possesses the variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) capability.It has already been widely recognized as the most promising candidate for replacing the slip-ring doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) for its distinct advantages such as high reliability and reduced maintenance cost due to the elimination of brushes and approximate decoupled control of active and reactive power. This paper introduces the machine topologies and operating principles of a vast variety of existing BDFMs with the similarities,differences and challenges in current research summarized,compares the torque/power density from the perspective of machine design,and overviews the analysis design methods and control strategies,with the internal consistency of control of different BDFMs discussed. Based on the design,modeling,and control of BDFM,a novel dual-stator brushless doubly-fed induction machine is proposed,analyzed,and controlled for stand-alone as well as grid-connected power generation with experimental validation.Finally,the potential applications and future trends of BDFMs are discussed.
