Abstract:Metadata management is important in data warehouse. This paper gives a comprehensive survey on research, application and commercial solution of metadata management technology for data warehousing. It summarizes the contents and general features of metadata management, compares existing standards, discusses the various strengths and weaknesses of architectural alternatives, and investigates technology features of metadata interoperability and change management mechanisms. This paper introduces advances in model management, giving an overview of currently available commercial tools, and finally, focuses on the future research topics.
